Time-series of the Yosemite Forest Dynamics Plot following the Rim Fire
These images are reduced-resolution versions of gigapixel panoramas from within the Yosemite Forest Dynamics Plot (YFDP). In the spring of 2013, Jim Lutz and I monumented 3 locations within the YFDP to be used for repeat-photography of the forest over time. We used a Gigapan robotic camera positioner to capture the gigapixel images of the YFDP just before it burnt in the California Rim Fire in the late summer of 2013. I've returned to the same locations nearly every spring and re-capture the panoramas, resulting in the following time series panoramas depicting fire effects and forest recovery for 11 years following fire.
